LOW FELL SHOTOKAN KARATE CLUB.

14/06/08 Grading with Sensei Williams.

Sensei Randolph Williams (6th Dan) took the club grading on Saturday 14th June.
The grading was very well attended by many local clubs for both junior and senior
session.

The training was challenging, informative yet also great fun, Sensei coaxed the very
best out of everyone from novice to dan grade, Sensei also relax everyone on a day
usually frought with nerves, Sensei’s relax manner allowed the grading students to
show their full potential during the grading.

Since the launch of Low Fell SKC in September 2006 there have been no temporary
grades issued, this grading was no exception with all students achieving full passes,
with the exception of Ben Hall; Ben displayed an exceptional standard and was and
was rewarded when Sensei informed him that he had double graded straight to 8th kyu.

James Irwin was awarded the Low Fell Spirit Award for his extremely high standard
during every training session between grades, James trains, grades and competes
at a very high standard and thoroughly deserves this award.

Once again I would like to thank Sensei Williams for a memorable day and to
congratulate all the students on their achievements.

Course and Grading - Sensei Randolph Williams

On Sunday 26th October York Karate hosted a training course and grading with Sensei Randolph Williams 6th Dan.

The training and grading were spilt into 2 sessions due to the amount of York Karate members in attendance.

The first session was for white to green belts with 40 members enjoying a very technical session concentrating on the finer details of basics. Then followed the grading. All members up to green belt all gained the next grade with style.

The next training session for purple belts and above was a more advanced session involing kumite techniques and high grade kata's including Jion. All students always enjoy the sessions with Sensei Williams as his relaxed style eases the students into fine grading performance's

Again grading for purple to brown belts followed the training with more impressive grading performances from the club. Well done everyone.

The club woud like to thank Sensei Williams for another fantastic course and look forward to him returning to the club very soon.

Course and Grading with Sensei Williams

Another club record, 101 students graded and 101 all achieved their new grade.

Sensei Randolph Williams took a training session for white to green belts focusing on kata, breaking it down and making each technique sharp and solid.

Then the grading for this group followed. Many of the students at York karate impressed Sensei Williams from ages as young as 5 all the way up to 65.

The second session was for purple belts and above. This training session was very advanced focusing on kumite or fighting techniques showing different ways to block and counter with both hands and feet, trying to take you out of your comfort zone, an excellent session that finished with advanced kata, with black belts focusing on Nijushiho.

Grading for purple to brown belts then followed with again some excellent performances with certain students showing marked improvements.

Well done to all that graded and the club thanks Sensei Williams for an excellent training course.

Grading with Sensei Randy Williams, Saturday 10th October.

On Saturday 10th October Low Fell SKC hosted the last grading of the year, this was presided over by Sensei Randy Williams 6th Dan, the Senior session was once again well represented by the usual supporting local clubs with special thanks to Cramlington, North Shields, Newcastle Sendai and Leeds Karate Acadamy.
Sensei took the seniors through Kata Nijushiho with emphasis on detail and Bunkai applications, a thorough and enjoyable session.
The Junior grades were taken through grading basic techniques and also great emphasis
placed on all the grading kata.
Once again the standard of students as very high and again no temporary grades were awarded, this keeps up Low Fell's exrodinary run of never having a temporary grade issued since the clubs launch over three years ago.
The spirit award was presented to Ellie Spoors who always shows the required spirit, attitude and standard not just on the grading but every session, well done Ellie keep it up, great things ahead.
