Harry Cuddy on his way to winning to NorthWest Open (5ft5insand over)

Saturday 1st March. Leeds Shotokan Karate Club took a squad of 8 members to this years competition. All members took part in kata and kumite. The day started very well with good performances from everyone on the day, with 3 members reaching the evening finals.

Harry Cuddy won the Boys Kumite over 5ft 5ins with Ben Whalen picking up 3rd place, Eliot Parsons getting 2nd place in the Boys Kumite 5ft to 5ft 5ins, his brother Ethan Parsons also picking up 2nd place in the Boys kumite up to 10yrs old. Brei Grierson the only girl in the squad put in another good performance in the Child's Ippon Kumite, narrowly missing out on  place in the finals.

For some of the squad it was a learning curve, they all now know what it take to compete at a high standard, hope fully they will incorperate this in there training and continue to progress.
