42nd KUGB National Championships.
Leeds Shotokan Karate Club had a very good at the Nationals, the whole squad performed very well with some members reaching the finals. The attitude of Squad was exemplary, everyone up for the fight to achieve gold.

The majority of the Squad made it to the 3rd round on there sheet in individual kumite (fighting), just missing out on a semi-final places, however we did have some success with two members reaching the finals.

First up was Ethan Parsons who was making his debut at the KUGB nationals, took silver in the Children’s Ippon Kumite event, unfortunately for him he will not be able to compete in this event next year as he will be year older.

Next up was Mathew Humphries, with shear determination grit fought through tough round picking up a rib injury on the way to the finals.
Reaching the finals was his goal, winning the Boys Individual Kumite was what he wanted more, he achieved that by winning the event in fine style.
The thumps sign that he gave to his parents when result was given spoke a thousand words.

Final note, I would like to say thanks to all the parents and other club members stayed and supported the squad through-out the day.
