Congratulations to everyone who took part at the 24th Kyu Grade Championships. For some it was their first time in competition. The fact that they even took part was an achievement in itself. Everyone gave it their best shot and can only learn from the experience. As was expected, nerves played a big part on the day.
Vetran Charlie Cuddy reach his second Kata final this year. Performing Heian Sandan he was awarded fourth place. One of our up and coming stars Bradley Claybourn making his debut in competition reach the semi-finals of the individual kumite event but was narrowly beaten, he was joint-third over all. Another person making his debut was Nathan Wyspianski who did really well in both the kata and ippon Kumite events, Nathan reached the quarter-finals in both categories, putting in some fine performances along the way. As was expected, nerves played a big part on the day.
