What a great evening with all the students and Sensei's at the Christmas/End of Year Party. ESKA European Championship News: 25th-27th November 2016

Leeds Shotokan Karate Club is proud to announce that Sensei Ryan Tucker, Ethan Armstrong and Luciano Zanuni all contributed to a fantastic weekend of results for the KUGB England Squad at the ESKA European Championships 2016 in Greece.

Sensei Ryan Tucker put in a strong performance in both categories for the Senior Individual Kumite and Senior Team Kumite events. Sensei Tucker reaches both finals in both categories, where he just missed out on gold by getting Silver in the Senior Individual Kumite. Sensei Tucker also up his game to achieve Gold in the 5 man Senior Team Kumite event.

Ethan Armstrong also put in a sterling performance for the KUGB England squad in the Individual Kumite and Team Kumite events. Ethan Armstrong reach the semi-finals of the Junior Men Individual Kumite and achieved Bronze, also contributed to both Team Kumite events by being a valued member in helping to get the Junior Men Team Kumite Silver in the 3 man squad, but also upping his game/level to achieve Gold in the 5 man Senior Team Kumite event.

Luciano Zanuni put a strong performance for which was his first appearances at the European Championships and show determination and experiences for him, which will prove invaluable for hopefully many more tournaments to compete in.

Senior Individual Kumite - Sensei Ryan Tucker - Silver - 2nd Place

Dan (Black Belt) Grading News: 20th November 2016

Well done to Stephen Riley and Josh Croft on there grading at Sunderland with Sensei Andy Sherry and Sensei Bob Rhodes. Josh put in a great performance to gain his Shodan (1st) Dan - Black Belt and Stephen who showed us that true martial artists never gives up to gain his Nidan (2nd) Dan - Black Belt. Very well done guys.

    

KUGB Northern Region Championship: 22nd October 2016

Another great day of results for the Leeds Shotokan Karate Club members who represented their club at the competition known as the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) Northern Region Championship event. Leeds Shotokan members exceed all expectations and shown great determination and positive attitude to bring in an  impressive medal haul of 13 including 4 Golds, 3 Silvers and 6 Bronzes medals.

A special mention to the two new members Oliver Pennycook and Rohan Karthik who have not even graded yet, but still performed superbly and Theo Chew on his first competition, who also put in a strong performances.  

Sensei Tucker and Sensei Cuddy would like give a big thank to everyone who competed, because you have all done the club proud in your achievements and performances.

KUGB Shotokan Cup: 17th September 2016

Another fantastic weekend of results for the Leeds Shotokan Karate Club members who represented their club at the Individual competition known as the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) Shotokan Cup event. Leeds Shotokan members showed great spirit and determination and where rewarded with their efforts .

The results as followed:

Ethan Armstrong - Gold - 1st Place Junior Male 18 - 20 Years Individual Kumite 

James Humphries - Gold - 1st Place - Junior Male 16 - 17 Years Male Individual Kumite

Ryan Tucker - Silver -  2nd Place - Senior Male Individual Kumite

Nathan Brady - Bronze - 3rd Place - Boys Over 5'5" Kumite

Liberty Vernon - Bronze - 3rd Place - Girls Over 5'3" Kumite

There was some strong performances and tough draws from all the students that went to the competition. A special well done to Liberty Vernon on her first competition in getting a Bronze in her category and Mayu Shishiga in getting to the semi finals in Senior Female Kata event.

    

KUGB Grand Slam News: 3rd September 2016

Fantastic results for the Leeds Shotokan Karate Club members who represented their country England at KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) Grand Slam event. All Leeds Shotokan Karate Club members won every individual Male Kumite event.

5th Inter-Club LSKC vs York Elite Championship: 17th July 2016

Another fantastic day of competition at Leeds Shotokan Karate Club Dojo.

Thanks to everyone from York Elite who made the journey over. The competition and standards of karate was first class from both sides.

This was our 5th year of annual inter-club competition and all money raised from entry fees and the raffle will go to our charity - St Gemma Hospice. Once again thanks to everyone who contributed, competed and donated.

 

We will look forward to seeing everyone again at next year competition.

It was a great day and showed some real great spirit and determination to complete the run.
